Illuminati & The New World Order

This is my attempt to understand why things are the ways they are in today's world?

Illuminati - A Secret Society that has a long history dating back to late 1700's in Germany which has its goal of creating a New World Order of One Government, all religions abolished, one currency dictated by the few rich elites of this world.

Have you ever wonder why places such as European Union is now having one currency? Have you wonder why the United Nations was formed? Have you ever wonder what caused the attacked on the United States of America on 9/11? Have you ever wonder why Osama Bin Laden till today has not been caught? Have you ever wonder why the world has spent so much money doing research on HIV/AIDS and has not found a cure for it? Have you wonder why breast cancer or other forms of cancer have not been eradicated? Have you ever wonder why there was a global financial crisis?

These are questions that are lingering in my mind and it appeared to me that Illuminati - Secret Society of this World has something to do with this. Looking at this whole concept of Illuminati and its conspiracy theories require extend research and tremendous commitment.

In this note, I would like to explore some key fundamental areas on why things are the ways they are?

If one understands the medical systems of the Western world, one can attest that it is one of the most sophisticated systems ever established in the modern world. Doctors have to go through extensive trainings and certifications, along with practices in order to be admitted and licensed to practice. Medicine manufacturers are amongst the world's wealthiest, most protected and secured industry. High profit margins and most lucrative compared to other forms of businesses.

In these observations, we probably wonder why it takes so long to find a cure to all of these common ailments? The truth of the matter is, doctors will be out of a job. Furthermore, drug manufacturers will eventually have to close down because drugs will be readily available and easier to produce. Henceforth, it is in the best interest of the elite few to dictate what happens next?

Take another example which was the attack of 9/11 on the World Trade Center in USA. Two airplanes flew into the World Trade Center in New York city; but the building actually collapsed bottom first. Many evidences suggested that President George W. Bush was behind the conspiracy and bombs were planted in the basement of the World Trade Center before the planes crashed into the two buildings because it is in the Interest of Illuminati Conspirators to make billions of dollars from the wars that were already planned way ahead of the attack.

It meant that President George W. Bush had the legitimate reasons to invade Afghanistan and killed Sadam Hussien which was the thorn on the side of the Bush family's fortunes. It also meant that George Bush and his cronies can enter Iraq and Afghanistan and pump as much oil as they can legitimately.

About Osama Bin Laden, it is one sad case in American history. The US has the best intelligence and best equipped troops in the world. There were many reports that George Bush actually flew Osam Bin Laden out to a safe place before they bombed Afghanistan, so the question of why they have not found Bin Laden is irrelevant.

The longer American troops can stay in Afghanistan and Iraq; the more money Dick Cheney and George Bush and all o Illuminati Conspirators stand to make money. Money amassed by the conspirators of Illuminati such as George Bush in his New World Order will last them another five generations.

Indeed It Was a Cool Experience!

On a Thursday afternoon, it was just routine for me to go to the bank and get cash to be disbursed for the staff and also for cash reconciliation on various petty cash expenses.

It was just one week before Pchum Ben festival and many people were already on their holiday moods and ready to say goodbye to work and head out to the provinces for family gathering and to remember those loved ones who have perished yet their spirits still roamed the Earth in forms of Asorikay--the lost souls.

It was 11:30am when I arrived at the bank. I filled out my paperworks and ready to withdraw $300,000, enough to cover salaries and other miscellaneous expenses.

It was my turn, so i proceeded to the window...the bank teller did her things. Given that I was a regular at the bank; many tellers recognized my face and I trusted them.

The phone rang and it was an overseas call; so I picked it up. I stood there whilst the money was being counted. It was quite abit of bills to be counted by hands. So, the teller used the machine. I was not worried because I knew that I can rely on the machine, but the only thing was I did not pay close attention. Meanwhile, I was on the phone the whole time talking to my Marketing Director about changes in brand guidelines for one of our key brand sold in Cambodia.

Finally, the Teller asked, 'do you want the cash in an envelope?'; and I immediately replied, 'yes, please'. I did not count the money because I trusted the Teller. Once I got the envelope, I opened my briefcase, then dropped the envelope inside; immediately closed it; left the bank.

I went straight to the office, I immediately opened my safe box; took the brown envelope with cash, slipped into the safe, then closed it. After all, the salary disbursement was not until Friday morning at 10:00am.

The day went well, meetings after meetings; from investors to government officials. Then, night came. I was having dinner with a couple of friends across the Japanese bridge when my cell phone rang. A soft spoken female on the other side of the line asking me apologetically whether I was 'Johnny Chuon'. I was actually abit surprised; yet did not know what she was after. She started to sob and I could hear her loudly on the phone. She began by saying, "I was the teller from the bank and I have made mistake by giving $7,000 more than I should have." She proceeded to tell me that she did not know who she had given the money to; but wanted to inquire whether I have seen the money?.

I was in shocked and disbelief. Who would be in the right mind to make such a mistake? I can understand, a couple of hundreds of dollars, $7,000 (Seven thousand US dollars)? Dear god, just unbelievable and I thought the lady was out of her mind or potentially a prang call? That's exactly what I said to the lady then I hung up.

The next morning, the same lady called again whilst I was having breakfast at the President's hotel on Kampuchea Krom road. I recognized the number from the previous night. This time, I thought to myself, maybe this lady was serious about the money and the miscounting.

So, I gave the Teller the chance to explain herself. The Teller told me that she had called 12 customers whom she has made contact on the day the money gone missing and all of them told her that they have not seen the money. The Bank Teller then proceeded to tell me that she was going through very serious personal experiences as a result of her divorce and was not in the right frame of mind.

The $7,000 was in a separate pile where she had counted and saved for another transaction. I was still skeptical about her story but told her that I honestly did not count the money that she had given to me the day before. I promised the Teller to look into it when I got back to the office.

After my morning breakfast, I drove quickly to my office then proceeded to opening the safe box which was sitting next to my desk in my private office. The money was wrapped in many bundles of $10,000 by rubber bands. I counted three times just to make sure that I had it right. I noticed that I had an extra bundle which was $7,000.

In the back of my mind, I was thinking why would she make this kind of serious mistake?. How long would it take her to repay $7,000 to the bank if her salary was only $350 per month?.

I knew what I could do with $7,000 because it was quite a huge sum of money. I could have spent it with my friends at a Karoake club hanging out with the girls or just chilling out on the beach at Bali when the sun shines all year round or buy a small piece of land for investment.

Frankly speaking, there were quite many temptations that went through my mind in the spur of that moment on that day.

I pulled out my cellphone and I started to search for the Bank Teller's phone number.

Immediately, she picked up the phone like she expected the good news...

The person I was and still is, I started to ask her nicely about how many temples she has been to for Pchum Ben thus far? She responded 7 already and I kind of laughed chuckled..Maybe the spirits were having mercy on her??

I told her that I have found the money and will return to her in full but she had to wait for one hour because I was busy with some guests.

Finally, the moment came. As I came walking through the Bank's gate, the Teller was waiting outside the bank inside the gate. She started crying and knelt down as she had seen some magical things on my head. Maybe, she did and I just did not know about it.

What I only knew was that: I am who I was then..who I am now...Nothing will ever be changed for the good of humanities.

A Couple of Lessons Learned in Life..

In Life I have learned a couple of things that:

1. It's not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts.

2. You cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.

3. Either you control your attitude or it controls you.

4. No matter how much I care, some people just don't care back.

5. It takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it.

6. You can get by on charm for about ten minutes. After that, what you know is important.

7. You should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last as you can see those that have gone through unexpected tragedy in our recent memories.

8. It's not what happens to people that's important. It's what they do about it.

9. You can try to do something quickly; but it will give you heartache for life.

10. Regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place.

11. Learning to forgive takes a whole lot of practice.

12. Money can only buy happiness sometimes but not all the times.

13. Sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel to myself nor other people.

14. True friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.

15. Maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many years you've lived.

16. You should never tell a child their dreams are unlikely or outlandish. Few things are more humiliating, and what a tragedy it would be if they believed you.

17. No matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must be ready to forgive them for that.

18. It isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. And I have to learn to forgive myself as well.

19. No matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief. I must find ways to heal it.

20. Just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other and just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do.

21. Sometimes you have to put the individual ahead of their actions.

22. You shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever.

23. There are many ways of falling and staying in love if you pay close attention to your feelings.

24. Your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.

25. Even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you, you will find the strength to help.

26. Writing, as well as talking, can ease emotional pains.

27. Certificates on the wall do not make you a decent human being; you have to go and make it happened.

28. The people you care most about in life are taken from you too soon and sometimes so young.

29. Life is too short and I have to make every second counts.

30. I have to Live life like I have imagined it to be.

Future of Diplomacy - My Perspectives

Cambodia has long and lasting relationship with many countries in the world. Yet nothing is more important than the needs to build a stronger relations with the USA, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and the rest of ASEAN nations.

If we look at Cambodia's diplomatic ties during the last 60 years; we have seen repeated manipulation by our friends and foes alike; especially bigger states bullying Cambodia to many points where we have never gained but only suffered losses at the expenses of political, socio-economic stability and development.

Starting with the spread of communism in the 1950's to the end cold wars of 1990's; Cambodia's position in the world stage has been in doubt and in disarray. Cambodia has been sidelined, arm-twisted, used and abused in nothing more than a political chess game of the big boys; such as the USA, China and the Former Soviet Union.

We have gone backward politically, socially and economically through space and time as direct results of wars, political upheavals; and failed diplomatic missions were among those critical ones. Our people have never seen better lights of day, until the last 25 years after the fall of Khmer Rouge and after UN-brokered democratic election in 1992.

As we begin this path of reconstruction to full recovery; it is my hope and vision that Cambodia will have learned past lessons and never again let those wrong lessons get repeated.

As a nation, we may be small yet we must be strong diplomatically; meaning a credible voice in the international scene and in the new world order. We must be able to convey our mights through diplomatic deceptions, military mights, economic prowess, unrivaled leadership and most importantly human resources that are second to none.

Diplomatic mission of all kinds must understand our position in the regional and global stage. We must learn to align ourselves with friends that are mightier than ourselves politically, socially and economically. And we must always embrace the ideals of freedom, democracy and independence.

We must never forget that the success of all diplomatic missions involve the ongoing respect of cultures, languaes and ways of life. These cultural understanding and appreciation can be fostered only by opening up our doors so that our people can travel and learn about other's people cultures, languages, traditions and ways of life.

Discrimination and prejudice of all kinds are rooted in the misunderstanding and not knowing. If people of all nations are encouraged to learn and become exposed; they will learn to appreciate different values other than their owns.

In this era of global trade and international commerce; Cambodia cannot afford to be left behind diplomatically. We must encourage as well as prepare our future generations to take on the responsibility of young ambassadors.

I believe that it is never too early to start children on the course to appreciating the world. Programs such young ambassadors, students exchange, overseas scholarships, cross-cultural and language programs will facilitate people to open up and adapt to things that may be different.

The future diplomacy will have greater chance of success when our children are already exposed and informed about the world other than their owns. They will be proud ambassadors of this great nation called Kingdom of Wonder when they are equipped with cultural and linguistic etiquettes of those that they will have to deal with. These basic skills will help to bolster their confidence in representing this great Kingdom.

Don't Drink & Drive - Grave Consequences!

A young man lies dying and he is wondering why??

I went to a party. Mom, I remembered what you said. You told me not to drink. Mom, so I drank soda instead.

I really felt proud inside. Mom, the way you said I would. I didn't drink and drive. Mom, even though the others said I should.

I know I did the right thing. Mom, I know you are always right. Now the party is finally ending, everyone is driving out of sight. As I got into my car, I knew I'd get home in one piece because of the way you raised me. I am responsible and sweet.

I started to drive away, but as I pulled out into the road, the other car didn't see me. And hit me like a load. As I lay there on the pavement, I hear the policeman say,"The other guy is drunk,". And now I'm the one who will pay. I'm lying here dying. I wish you'd get here soon. How could this happen to me?

My life just burst like a balloon.There is blood all around me and most of it is mine. I hear the medic say, I'll die in a short time.

I just wanted to tell you, I swear I didn't drink. It was the others, Mom. The others didn't think. He was probably at the same party as I.The only difference is, he drank and I will die.

Why do people drink, Mom? It can ruin your whole life. I'm feeling sharp pains now. Pains just like a knife. The guy who hit me is walking, Mom, and I don't think it's fair. I'm lying here dying and all he can do is stare.

Tell my brother not to cry, Mom. Tell Daddy to be brave. And when I go to heaven, Mom. Put "Daddy's Boyl" on my grave. Someone should have told him, Mom, Not to drink and drive. If only they had told him, Mom, I would still be alive.

My breath is getting shorter, Mom. I'm becoming very scared. Please don't cry for me, Mom. When I needed you,you were always there. I have one last question, Mom. Before I say good bye. I didn't drink and drive. So, why am I the one to die?

Friendship or Love?

Friendship is a quiet walk in the park with the one you trust. Love is when you feel like you are the only two around.

Friendship is when they gaze into your eyes and you know they care. Love is when they gaze into your eyes and it warms your heart.

Friendship is being close even when you are far apart. Love is when you can still feel their hand on your heart when they are not near.

Friendship is hoping that they experience the very best. Love is when you bring them the very best.

Friendship occupies your mind. Love occupies your soul.

Friendship is knowing that you will always try to be there when in need. Love is when you will give up everything to be at their side.

Friendship is a warm smile in the winter. Love is a warming touch that sends a pulse through your heart.

Love is a beautiful smile to which nothing compares. A tender laugh, which opens your heart.

A single touch that melts away your fears. A smell that reminds you of the tenderness of heaven.

A voice that reminds you of the innocence of youth.

Friendship can survive without love. Love cannot live without friendship.

Can Life Ever Be Perfect? Remembering Them..A Reflection...

It was three days ago when Mrs. Champa woke up in the morning and prepared foods for relatives and friends who came from the provinces. About 30 people came from Kampot to stay at Mrs. Champa's home in Russey Keo district to simply enjoy the boat festival.

This year promised to be larger than ever...given the number of boats, different development sights opening up like Koh Pich, Canadia Bank building and so on. The people in the provinces just have the appetite and the urge to come to Phnom Penh city and see these new things. For some, it was an opportunity of a life time.

Mrs. Champa had just lost her husband to a tragic car accident whilst on their way to Sihanoukville last year. She was left with two daughters and a son. Mrs. Champa had so much hope of her children because they are what's left in her life.

Sophy, the eldest daughter was one year away from being a doctor. Joy, the second daughter was in her third year of law school, hoping to be a diplomat one day. Joy was always full of life and had tastes for international travels and foreign languages. The son, Channy was an extremely good computer programmer who have just won an award to go to Japan for 2 years right after the Water Festival.

Mrs. Champa always tried to keep her children from crowded places since they were young and especially during big festivals such Khmer New Year and Water Festival for the simple fact that any thing can go wrong in crowded places.

For many years, Mrs. Champa always encouraged her children to watch the boat race at home on TV. And that what the children have been doing during their teenage years.

This year's Water Festival promised to be big and extremely fun with exciting boat races, TV shows, concert with live telecast, fireworks and more.

After keeping themselves refrained for the first two days of the boat race; Channy, the son initiated the motion to go and enjoy the show at Koh Pich. Both of the sisters and a couple of other friends joined in.

All three never made it home. They perished during the tragic event at Koh Pich along with 346 other people.

This is a sad story about life and how our future hangs in the balance. It is hard enough to procreate, to raise a child, put him or her through schools...hoping that they will become a productive member of society.

In spur of the moment, life is nothing but a last breath of hot air.

Could you imagine the pain and agony of those young children, teen, adults who were struggling to get themselves out? Buried under human bodies, trampled to death by other human beings...the agonizing screams that will never be heard?
It was one tragic event that will never be forgotten...the number of lives it took!

They were young and innocent. For many, they didn't even know what life is yet, nor that they have ever experienced lust nor love. But filled with hope for a nation that needs them most yet their future stolen...

For many, parents prepared late night supper for them when they returned...

It is a time of mourning for the number of lives loss. To those who waited, late supper prepared.. nothing but despairs to have heard of the gruesome news.

Can life ever be perfect?

For me, event like this teaches us all that life is hanging in the balance for every soul that exists on this planet. Life is nothing more than precious moments in time...when we have opportunity ..we shall cease every second, every minute of our existence. We shall live like we will die tomorrow...so make every second counts whilst you are here.

This is just a beautiful story..an inspirational one..for those of you who are helping and never expecting anything back...

Providing help is never something that you should expect in return...

One night, at 11:30 pm, an older woman was standing on the side of a Batdombang's highway trying to endure a lashing rain storm. Her car had broken down and she desperately needed a ride.

Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car. A young man stopped to help her - generally very rare that somebody would stop as late as 11:30pm. The young man took her to safety, helped her get assistance and put her into a tuk tuk.

She seemed to be in a big hurry! She wrote down his address, thanked him and drove away. Five days went by and a knock came on the man's door. To his surprise, a giant combination console color TV and stereo record player were delivered to his home.

A special note was attached. The note read: Dear Kmouy Piseth:

Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway the other night. The rain drenched not only my clothes but my spirits. Then you came along. Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying husband's bedside just before he passed away. God bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving others.

In the Minds of Rich Men of Cambodia..My Perspectives!

First of all, this is my attempt to understand the basic of human behaviors. I am not a behaviorist nor a psychologist; but through many years working and interacting with the rich powerful men of Cambodia; I would like to reflect and share my thoughts on how things are done in our land.

There are only a few of so called rich and powerful men of Cambodia; but they are powerful enough that their decisions collectively will have direct political, social and economic impacts in contemporary Cambodia.

Through privatization, these individuals who have amassed themselves since communist era to now free market economy with massive fortunes. They continue to thrive because of their sworn loyalty to the ruling party. They control telecom, grain exchange, rubber exports, logging, mining, land concessions, gold, televisions, oil supplies, casinos, construction materials and contracts and power plants..just to name a few.

For those that have distanced themselves from party loyalty; they are shunned and most of times sidelined...bankrupted and eventually out of business for good.

Touched by democratic wind of change, most of these elite businessmen now have succumbed themselves to politics mostly in senatorial seats. Most have left some of their fortunes to be managed by their children.

What we have now is the passing of the torch to the new generation of businessmen and new style of leadership often times educated in the West; yet most decisions are still dictated by the fathers.

For most of these rich elites, their fortunes come mainly from hard works. They are ordinary Khmer Chinese who either left the country during the war ravaged time of Khmer Rouge or those who have gone through the living hell and promised themselves to never again be poor. I have the honor to learn much from these rich and powerful men of Cambodia. I come to admire their sense of business style, conservatism and of course their sheer shrewdness to excelling in whatever they do.

Some things that have always been troubling for me to accept are their egotistical style of leadership where any thing goes in the name of monetary gains for the themselves and the party.

Their lacks of moral values as a direct result of the pressure placed upon them by party politics. Most of times, it cannot be understood from the surface; but my insight has provided a broad understanding of why they behave the way they do and the decisions they make are the way they are with no regards to human dignity or thought to the environments in which they may have impacted such as Beoungkok Lake project, sugar plantation in Koh Kong, Kirirom park, Kbal Chhay..to just name a few.

Behind the facade, these rich individuals are required by the party to pay loyalty dues in kinds and whatever the party needs. I remembered those days when cash was delivered by the boxes to party head quarter. And I still believe that it has not changed very much. Imagine that the ruling party have direct affiliation with your business..some what like a mafia style of businesses.

It is one of the richest party ever assembled in the history of Asia. These rich individuals are constantly thinking of ways to stay ahead of the games so that they can be apart of the crowd. If you fall behind, you will be left out and that is the way many businesses are run; but more so in Cambodia.

It is throat cutting and shrewd and winner often takes all. And you must be an extremely good chess and boule player to be successful plus you need to be able to drink either whiskey or cognac at least 5 straight hours without getting drunk. Friendship and trust often times are earned with these kinds of moments either in the KTV room or on the golf course besides the gambling dens of various high stake casinos and high maintenance girls.

These rich individuals are living lives at their best wit their heads up high, extremely comfortable in their world. They are in control. Many times they forget their senses of where they actually came from. They forget the rules of laws and their respects for humanity. For instances, it is these rich elites that are breaking the traffic laws because they wanted to get to places; so it is upon their discretion that they cut corners, cross red lights, run over people...just to name a few because they are able to buy themselves out of trouble.

When they are less pressured, they become some of the most wonderful human beings ever lived. They are after all the most clever and determined people ever born in this land. They helped to jump start the economy, kept the currency stable, built the products supply lines, built roads, pagodas, schools and orphanage centers.

There are always the good sides to these individuals because at the end they will always remember those days when they had nothing. As one prominent businessman told me, "I came with nothing and will die with nothing; yet never want to be poor again".

As I reflect upon these words, I come to realize that people will forget when they reached their destiny. I can recall some of these rich individuals whom I came to know are no more man than any other men in this world. We are just by nature deeply rooted in greeds, self empowerment, control, to be with the in-crowd, to be counted and to have respect not necessarily by earning it but our sheer selfishness of getting it through the quickest means possible.

Vice President Johnson, Mr. Speaker, Mr. Chief Justice, President Eisenhower, Vice president Nixon, President Truman, Reverend Clergy, fellow citizens:

We observe today not a victory of party but a celebration of freedom--symbolizing an end as well as a beginning--signifying renewal as well as change. For I have sworn before you and Almighty God the same solemn oath our forebears prescribed nearly a century and three quarters ago.

The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe-the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God.

We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans--born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage--and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world.

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.

This much we pledge--and more.

To those old allies whose cultural and spiritual origins we share, we pledge the loyalty of faithful friends. United, there is little we cannot do in a host of cooperative ventures. Divided, there is little we can do--for we dare not meet a powerful challenge at odds and split asunder.

To those new states whom we welcome to the ranks of the free, we pledge our word that one form of colonial control shall not have passed away merely to be replaced by a far more iron tyranny. We shall not always expect to find them supporting our view. But we shall always hope to find them strongly supporting their own' freedom-and to remember that, in the past, those who foolishly sought power by riding the back of the tiger ended up inside.

To those peoples in the huts and villages of half the globe struggling to break the bonds of mass misery, we pledge our best efforts to help them help themselves, for whatever period is required--not because the communists may be doing it, not because we seek their votes, but because it is right. If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich.

To our sister republics south of our border, we offer a special pledge--to convert our good words into good deeds--in a new alliance for progress--to assist free men and free governments in casting off the chains of poverty. But this peaceful revolution of hope cannot become the prey of hostile powers. Let all our neighbors know that we shall join with them to oppose aggression or subversion anywhere in the Americas. And let every other power know that this Hemisphere intends to remain the master of its own house.

To that world assembly of sovereign states, the United Nations, our last best hope in an age where the instruments of war have far outpaced the instruments of peace, we renew our pledge of support--to prevent it from becoming merely a forum for invective--to strengthen its shield of the new and the weak--and to enlarge the area in which its writ may run.

Finally, to those nations who would make themselves our adversary, we offer not a pledge but a request: that both sides begin anew the quest for peace, before the dark powers of destruction unleashed by science engulf all humanity in planned or accidental self-destruction.

We dare not tempt them with weakness. For only when our arms are sufficient beyond doubt can we be certain beyond doubt that they will never be employed.

But neither can two great and powerful groups of nations take comfort from our present course--both sides overburdened by the cost of modern weapons, both rightly alarmed by the steady spread of the deadly atom, yet both racing to alter that uncertain balance of terror that stays the hand of mankind's final war.

So let us begin anew--remembering on both sides that civility is not a sign of weakness, and sincerity is always subject to proof. Let us never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate.

Let both sides explore what problems unite us instead of belaboring those problems which divide us.

Let both sides, for the first time, formulate serious and precise proposals for the inspection and control of arms--and bring the absolute power to destroy other nations under the absolute control of all nations.

Let both sides seek to invoke the wonders of science instead of its terrors. Together let us explore the stars, conquer the deserts, eradicate disease, tap the ocean depths and encourage the arts and commerce.

Let both sides unite to heed in all corners of the earth the command of Isaiah--to "undo the heavy burdens . . . (and) let the oppressed go free."

And if a beach-head of cooperation may push back the jungle of suspicion, let both sides join in creating a new endeavor, not a new balance of power, but a new world of law, where the strong are just and the weak secure and the peace preserved.

All this will not be finished in the first one hundred days. Nor will it be finished in the first one thousand days, nor in the life of this Administration, nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. But let us begin.

In your hands, my fellow citizens, more than mine, will rest the final success or failure of our course. Since this country was founded, each generation of Americans has been summoned to give testimony to its national loyalty. The graves of young Americans who answered the call to service surround the globe.

Now the trumpet summons us again-not as a call to bear arms, though arms we need--not as a call to battle, though embattled we are--but a call to bear the burden of a long twilight struggle, year in and year out, "rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation"--a struggle against the common enemies of man: tyranny, poverty, disease and war itself.

Can we forge against these enemies a grand and global alliance, North and South, East and West, that can assure a more fruitful life for all mankind? Will you join in that historic effort?

In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility--I welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it--and the glow from that fire can truly light the world.

And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country.

My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.

Finally, whether you are citizens of America or citizens of the world, ask of us here the same high standards of strength and sacrifice which we ask of you. With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God's work must truly be our own.

The Human Resource Factor - How?

Productive human resources are utmost important to a country. How well a country develops is largely determined by how much education the people of that country undergone.

If we take a look at some of the prime examples of our contemporary world; we soon realized that places such as Singapore, Hong Kong , Korea and Japan have come a long way in terms of development and modernization. Rapid development and modernization were largely due from the fundamental beliefs that educated populace will lead to creative thinking, increased productivity, efficiency and more competitive environments which will lead to nation with wealth.

Humans by nature are particularly smarter than any other species on this planet...We are born with a genetic make up that determines certain things in our lifetime. Yet, not necessary how we learn and adapt to our environments. Henceforth, if humans are given the opportunities to exist freely with environments that are conducive to learning, nurturing of the minds and the bodies; then the chances of advancement are much higher.

When we are born, our brain is nothing more than a blank slate ready to be written. In the course of our lifetime through what we encountered as experiences; pre-conditioned or not; our brains act as little tape recorders. The brain records messages, tones, words and emotions. When certain emotions and things recur; the brain triggers responses with recognition of past emotions which have been recorded; more or less like the central processing unit (CPU) of a computer; but more intricate and more sophisticated than any machines ever built.

If we look at Cambodia's current development model; human resources development is the least thought about factor in the national development's goals. In comparison, human resource is less important than defense spending and money spent on building of government offices.

If we are to succeed in the future, our leaders and policy makers must understand the fundamental truth of why human resources are by far most critical in sustaining long/short term growth.

Human factor can be made into a single most important resource if our government and the people make it a national priority; not to mention things like oil, minerals and others that we have at our disposal.

Singapore, as an island nation with very limited natural resources is able to develop its human resources successfully to a point where the world is learning from its success story. Thanks to people like Mr. Lee Kuan Yew who had the vision and the fundamental belief that education and educated work force will put his nation at the forefront of development and modernization both in socio-economics and as a regional political force.

Below are some of my ideas and I wanted to share with all of our readers:

1. Human Resources development must start with the basic understanding of ACCESSIBILITY. Our curiosity will lead us to want to learn more and more. So, I propose learning programs to extend from pre-school to adult school. We must encourage learning at all levels. Programs must be catered to fit to various needs. Access to education should be made easy so that people from all walks of life can learn; inclusive of mobilizing of resources such temples and places of worship, opening up of more libraries and implementation of mobile libraries in urban and rural areas. National Reward Programs and Campaigns to encourage reading and writing. Technologies must be incorporated into accessibility program.

2. Research and Development of new materials inclusive of translation and interpretation of foreign books, journals, literatures,audio and visual applications.

3. Training and development facilities for adults such as women, disable persons and orphans.

4. Mentoring program - students are placed with peer mentors and professional mentors to learn the reality of different workplace - gain real examples and gain necessary experiences.

5. Math, Science and Technology Programs - to encourage the study of three very imperative subject matters which will lead to technological innovation, invention and industrialization. Much emphasis must be placed to ensure that curriculums from elementary school to university levels are incorporated with core math, science and technology courses.

6. Exchange programs & Scholarships - to insure that our students have access to international exposure and learn what are available out there beyond Cambodia. Why re-invent the wheel when we can just take the wheel and modify it to make it better..that's what the Japanese taught us?

7. National Internship program - incentives to private companies to participate.

8. Polytechnic schools & Vocational Institutes - more polytechnic schools and vocational institutes are necessary because we need to have work force that are ready to handle light industry, light assembly and reap the global outsourcing needs of cheap yet skilled labor force at a competitive pricing advantage.

9. Job Placement and Support Services - National programs should be thought through to provide short and long terms support to graduates and the unemployed. The faster we are able to put our graduates into the labor force; the better in terms of productivity, increase spending and saving power and of course the sooner the government is able to start collecting taxes for the benefits of all.

10. Establish a Think Tank - Gathering of experts from different disciplines to promulgate ideas, work on projects, create framework for educational advancement.

It is also very important that; the subject matters that are taught in schools must be in line with what the employers require. Hence, a coordinated effort between private and public sectors must be in place to insure that these measures are implemented properly. As a result, graduates are ready and fully functional to take on concrete responsibilities and productivity.

The big question is how will we fund these initiatives. My simple solution would be to impose heavier taxes on products such as tobacco, beer and liquor of all kinds. Moreover, service taxes on entertainment such as KTV, Night Club and other entertainment. And of course, the government must improve its revenue collection processes. If revenues are properly collected; most of the programs above can easily be implemented with not just enough but the government will have excess amount left for something else.

The future is in our hands.

Cheating in Schools, Why?

Cheating on exams is rampant in Cambodia. I am trying to explore the depth of why kids now aday resort to cheating to pass their exams. It is just beyond belief that Ministry of Education has to deploy military police and police to safeguard examination sites to insure more cheating can take place.

In the age of modern technologies; such as cellphones capable of taking pics, live telecast, and instant messaging; cheating is probably at its best and tough to catch.

You probably wonder why these kids are cheating? They are amongst the brightest and smartest of what we have in contemporary Cambodia. They do it because it is easy, fun, admissible, accessible and the systems are so weak that they see it as penetrable and thrilling. Why study hard if you know that you will be able to get a quick fixed on the day of the examination? Those potential bad students choose the easy way out...It is nothing more than a mockery of the systems if we have not found that out? Wake up! My fellow adults and smell the potential impact for once..!!

Let's look at the root causes:
Family Values - Many people value education. That is the fundamental truth about Khmers. Most parents want nothing more that having their children educated and doing well. The desire to have the children do well sometimes lead many parents to commit something that they already knew is wrong and they do it because they love their children too much.

Most parents will not accept the fact that their children be left behind and not have a passing grade during the examination season. Parents are willing to do anything so that their children get the passing grade; inclusive of bribing teachers indirectly and directly. Shockingly will encourage cheating on exams.

From my observation; the people that are passing cheat notes are relatives of the examinees. Hence, it is encouraged and pre-meditated by family members.

I used to live next to an educated man who till this day is a prominent member in Ministry of Education. Every season before examination day; he has a steady stream of visitors (parents) coming over to his house with different packages. He got extremely rich from those packages but I do not think that he gives a hoot about the detrimental affects on future generations?

The Systems - If we look at our educational systems, in reality it is one damned good system. We adapted some of most advanced books, literatures and other educational programs the world over, from the help of organizations such as UNDP, UNESCO and other Development Partners.

The implementation is a problem. The corrupted individuals are the issues who are giving Ministry of Education a bad name. It is a network of getting rich quick schemes. To these individuals, they do not care about any thing but how to further attain and secure their luxurious life style.

The Environments - Ways of life in today's Cambodia are about getting things the easy way; especially true for those that are living in the competitive environment of the major urban cities. It is about buying positions to be able to reap immediate benefits. It is about gaining power at the expense of others. Hence, the relationship between education and power come hand in hand. The certificate/degree typically is the precondition of jobs as civil servant or in the private sector.

Don't get me wrong, not all Cambodians are bad and getting their degrees or certificates through cheating; but I am illustrating the point about cheating and why we perpetuate it?

Henceforth, when we have an environment that perpetuates cheating; then our mental processes are conditioned to accept and encourage these cheating behaviors.

My thoughts about how we can eliminate cheating...

Family Values - It has to start with the family. The cheating will stop when all parents refused to accept that cheating is acceptable. No more money or gift should exchange hands. Teacher appreciation can be done in a collective manner where teachers are appreciated for their hard works and dedications. We must spend more time with our children with their homeworks and instill with them the moral principle of education and its value. Encourage them to take part time jobs to get them to learn the value of hard works and earning money. We must form and learn to appreciate programs such as parent teacher association where teachers and parents can come together to exchange ideas and thoughts. Through these kinds of programs; relationship is fostered which will encourage openness and honesty.

The Systems - The Ministry of Education and the Government must assess the problems to understand their root causes. The who and what must be identified. Corrupted individuals should be prosecuted like traitors against our nation. It is a serious crime that will have implication for generations to come. Strict measures must be in place because Ministry of Education must be the Model to all of ministries. Teachers and educators must properly compensated for their works to avoid corrupted practices.

It is my belief that if we can rectify these two problems; we will be able to alleviate problems of cheating in our schools. Our children and future generations will be able to compete locally, regionally, and the world. In summary, it is each and every one of our responsibility to make it right.

Is It Her Fault? A Closer Look At Cambodia's Karaoke Girls

Laughter soon turned into dead of silence....You can actually hear if a pin drops. Four men walked in. The men winked at them, they winked back in their flirtatious nature.

Sitting in two rows leading up the elevator; there must have been more than fifty of them, twenty five in each row, nicely dressed. Some in traditional costumes and some in modern clothes, sexually appealing.

It was after all a lazy Friday afternoon about 3pm when I decided to accompany a couple of friends to a KTV, Khmer style across the Japanese bridge.

As early birds, we get the best picks of the 100 girls in the house. It was after all first come first serve. They were chosen as commodities. After the selection process, we went up to our KTV room. Then the chosen girls followed.

Inside the KTV room, the girls were treated like queens with some respectable men amongst my friends. To some of the men, the working girls were nothing more than sexual slaves.

These hostesses or KTV girls are for the most part regarded as "bad girls" of society. Yet, men prey on them every day. Through the sexual role that they play and connections that they may have; some are able to move into the highest echelon of society to become mistresses or wives of the rich elites and powerful politicians.

For some, it is nothing more than a tragic road of despair involving rape, sexual exploitation, violence and all sorts of other abuses.

These stories are just too common in our today's Cambodia and they are sexual taboos in which we all kind of ignore.

Sexual promiscuity, sexual violence, exploitation and the threat of sexual transmitted diseases such HIV/AIDS are nothing short of deadly; but taken very lightly in our sad contemporary Cambodia.

Many people tend to blame these innocent working girls as leading their husbands, boyfriends and loved ones on when there are incidences of love triangle or sexual affairs taken place. Many of these girls are met with physical violence such as acid attack and bodily harm deployed by third party hench men.

Can we blame them? Is it their fault?

These innocent working girls deserved nothing more than sympathy because they are being looked upon disgustedly by all of us. And let's be honest with ourselves; we are after all humans. These are the same people we called sisters, daughters, nieces or even grand daughters.

Some people choose to love them for who they are; but for many they are nothing but sexual toys to be used and exploited to fulfill those moments of sexual pleasure.

They laugh when we laugh. They smile when we smile. They drink when we allow them and much worse we normally force them to drink with us. Men, who frequented these entertainment places know exactly what I am talking about! When they refused, we get very agitated. Some men with their egotistical prowess would go to extend of using force to threaten them.

Do these girls have many choices?

Under the facade of beautiful and innocent smiles...they are torn into pieces. Torn by societal norms that do not welcome these kinds of professions. Torn by the economic hardship that they have to endure. Torn by the fact that they are subjected to all sorts of sexual violence before getting paid. Torn that they may have acquired health related diseases caused by heavy drinking and illegal drug use. Worst yet, sexual transmitted diseases.

These scenes are all too common in most KTV joints around Phnom Penh and out in the provincial centers. The numbers are not decreasing but increasing exponentially by months on end. With the recent closure of the various garment factories; many more girls are seeking better opportunities and quick bucks.

It is an economic dilemma that the government ought to think about very quickly. Otherwise, these kinds of social issues will become nothing more than continued societal problems that may be detrimental to Cambodia's long term development and our hope to rebuilding this wonderful nation.

You Will Never Imprison the Mind...

It was once said by Mohanda K. Ghandi that "You can chain me, you can torture me, even destroy this body; but you will never imprison my mind." So eloquently put..a man of peace and tranquility...lived a life of sacrifice so that the world could follow his moral principles of peace and non-violence.

He devoted his life to gaining independence for India, but at the same time walked this Earth so that others could be free of oppression and suffering caused my imperialism and colonialism.

I find his wisdom so appealing as in today's world; we often resort to not peaceful means to solving problems but through the use of weapons to end conflicts. During the course of human history, suffering caused by natural calamities are less severe than those caused by humans on other humans in the name of religions, ideologies, oil, wealth, domination, races and territorial controls.

The suffering of men will only end if we seek to end it ourselves. The truth in all of our answers to life is within all of us and how we live our lives.

Our decision to live in peace or in war rests in all of us; but we must be able to overcome and eliminate the beast that is in all of us.

Will there be man like that of Ghandi walks this Earth again?

A Tow Truck From Hell

One day, I had to buy some papers for the office and had my car parked right in front of the office stationary store; half of the car on the sidewalk and half on the street.

While I was busy negotiating the prices of various items; a police tow truck came rolling by.

In Cambodia, there were a few of those police tow trucks available to enforce illegal parking on public streets, public parks, areas by the river front and the Royal Palace. On the top of the responsibilities that those policemen had with parking enforcement; they were given the responsibilities to harass and exploit their power on citizens when opportunities existed for quick bucks.

Have you ever seen what I observed? There were 2 to 3 policemen in one of those tow trucks. They were always nicely dressed, shoes always shine, gold chains on their necks about 5 kilograms each. Of course armed with two sets of mobile phones of latest models. One can only imagine? If the policemen were paid a couple of hundred dollars per month; how can they afford these luxurious items?

The three policemen jumped off their tow truck and yelled on top of their lungs asking for the owners of the cars parked on the street?

Having heard the commotion, I stepped outside the stationary store and I exclaimed that I was one of the car owners amongst many that came out simultaneously.

One policeman yelled in the most despicable remarks straight to my face; then one other policeman started to yank my car with his tow chain. Without any explanation, they started to pull my car. Then, I was told rudely that if I wanted it to stop; I had to go and talk to his boss sitting in the other tow truck across the street watching the commotions.

I panicked and ran across the street to try and get some answers on why my car was being towed.

I questioned myself what have I done wrong? I was confused not knowing what in hell was going on? The big boss immediately told me that all cars must be cleared from the areas because a high ranking official was coming to visit the areas. My fine was $150 and I had to pay right away.

I was shocked, upset and speechless. I argued that their actions were illegal and demanded that they give me a citation ticket for my wrong doing. The policemen refused then went on to threaten me that they will tow my car to the police parking lot and will not able to reclaim it until 3 days later which meant lost of time and money on my part.

I thought to myself; these policemen were nothing more than robbers which were given the license to rob and extort normal citizens for quick bucks in broad day light. $150 for parking on the street where there was no sign whatsoever about parking permits or parking restrictions.

After 10 minutes of negotiation and I was reluctant to give in to their demands. The policemen proceeded to tow my car away. I stood there watching my car being towed away in anguish and dismay because I wanted to challenge the system and was unwilling to pay those corrupted policemen.

I took a motor taxi back to my office; then proceeded to calling the police impound lot to get information on the whereabout of my car. I have tried as many as 50 times before a lady picked up the phone and responded to my car inquiries. She told me that my car had been safely towed to the impound lot and if I wanted to get it back it will have to be Monday morning because the car was towed on a Friday afternoon.

I was without a car for the entire weekend and resorted to riding on cyclo and motor taxi. The following monday morning, I repeatedly called to make arrangement to pay for the fine and get my car released.

What I got was a living hell. I wanted to pick up the car and was willing to pay as long as I had documentation or proper citation for my wrong doing. The policewoman who was working at the impound lot told me that I had to pay $300 to get my car back; but I had to wait for the big boss to come in to the office.

So, I went to the police impound lot and waited. After three hours of waiting; the policewoman came out and told me and the other people who were also waiting to get their cars released that the big boss was still busy. I only found out later that I knew that the big boss was still singing with girls at a Karaoke joint.

My whole day was gone waisted just trying to get my car released from the impound lot. The next day, I went back to the impound lot. I went through the police procedures and paid my fine with no documentation given. When I got to my car, I soon realized that all four of my new tires were gone and replaced with old ones. My stereo and television were also stolen.

What is ironic about this ordeal was that I saw a sign on of the posts at the impound lot which read that the police has no responsibilities in protecting the cars being impounded. Again, I thought to myself, how crazy can that be?

There must have been hundreds of cars being impounded with fences all around the lot and the police was not responsible...?? Hello..something was not right with that picture?? I questioned.

It was just a complete absurdity!

So, the next time you see those tow trucks, please convey my message of peace that enough is enough..Otherwise, those gold chains on their necks will drag them down to joblessness and despair and potentially to hell.

I find it very interesting and embarrassing to discuss about the different police stories that I have witnessed living and working in Cambodia.

Police in general does not have good reputation in Cambodia due to the simple fact that corruptions are rampant amongst law enforcement agents.

The police has the mandate to enforce, serve and protect citizens from dangerous situations that may arise from various threats; but most often times the police agents are seen abetting criminals and criminal elements in a culture of impunity.

Given that policemen are underpaid; there seemed to be tendencies like any other civil servants in Cambodia to resort to other ways to earn quick bucks for a living.

It is laughable and pathetic to see policemen stopping motorists for various traffic violations then extort money from people.

The irony is that most traffic policemen are powerless to stop those rich and powerful individuals who commit gross traffic violations such as speeding, crossing red light, driving in opposite direction in broad day light right in front of their eyes.

The people that have been hit hard most are those poor people from the provinces who are commuting daily to Phnom Penh to sell things...These people are the lifeline of a growing economy yet most vulnerable. They are law abiding yet scared of the police. They do not want to get into argument with police nor get in trouble with the laws. Unfortunately, they become the most wanted on the traffic police's radar.

When the traffic police whistles for the general motorists to stop; they will stop. Most of times, those innocent victims are held on the road side until money exchanged hand without any kind of documentation of their wrong doings.

You may have seen what I just saw, not too long ago? A commercial truck rolling by..that truck was carrying some coconuts. If you observe from a distance, you can see one hand sticking out of the window on the passenger side of the truck with the palm face down tightly gripped. The truck slowly moves forward, the policeman steps up with his hand raised just enough to touch the palm of the guy in the truck; in a touch and go motion, split second, a deal is made. It does not matter what the truck is carrying or how heavy it is...a deal is done in the most concealed yet opened to all to be seen.

We all kind of accept that it is a way of life. If any thing is to be done properly, they should be done from the smallest of things such as these corruptive and petty acts.

A Sign of Changing Time- Become An Agent of Change



As we can witness from the last couple of weeks, Cambodia has been getting many high level visits and many diplomatic visitors. Ranging from UN Secretary General, Mr. Ban Ki Moon; US Secretary of States, former 1st Lady Mrs. Hilary Clinton and many others. Talks involved the respect for human rights, investments, infrastructure building, cultural understanding, exchanging of goods and services and debt relief. It is a sign of changing time. Moments that we should be proud to be Khmer once more and ever to come.

It is a sign of confidence and a sign that the leaders of world are recognizing that Cambodia cannot be left alone in global politics and commerce.

Strategically,Cambodia is important to China and the US. For the Chinese, it is a sphere of influence where Cambodia is strategically located on the opposite end of the its border to avert any kind of direct threat from Vietnam. We must remember that the Chinese have been at wars with Vietnam for centuries. Moreover, having Cambodia as its friend means Pan-Asianism is at its best from geo-political and economical standpoints.

During the last couple of decades, the Americans have never made Cambodia a top priority in terms of strategic importance after their devastating defeat in Vietnam. Many lives lost. They fought a loosing war with little and no support at home due to the peace movement that ended the war in political disarray and divided.

Due the bad memories and the US's commercial dependence on foreign oil, Asia a thing of the past and sidelined for at least during the last decade.

The US also realizes that China and India are utmost important as their trading partners due to the massive population and their potential spending power. Furthermore, the shift in geo-political power and influences in the world brought forth by the sheer magnitude of commercial activities and rapid development in Asia made it a force never to be left alone.

Cambodia, is one of the rising star in this new era of global trade. With its positive GDP growth year-on-year during the last five years and a rather stable political environment; the key players are beginning to realize that Cambodia should be not be left out on the sideline.

Another strategic importance that we must also note, Cambodia's natural resources are nearly untouched but are only seen as signs of opportunity.

Cambodia is one place in the planet where resources such oil and other minerals are yet fully explored. The opportunities are endless...What comes with these opportunities are problems if not managed carefully.

As future generations, we must learn from our past mistakes on how sphere of influence can take us to road of dispairs, hardship and destruction to the homeland. We must safeguard our identity and national interests for posterity. Yet realizing that playing in the global arena can reap us many rewards. We should not be isolated, yet we must not be succumed to commercial interests that will destroy the very resources that our people need for their livelihood.

Our vast oil reserves will mean more money for the country; better roads, railways, better schools, better educational programs, better health care for the needies, scholarships for our children to be abroad to learn necessary technologies and skills and of course better laws and governances.

Until these are carefully thought through; doom days lurk just around the corner. We have seen many failures in our lifetime of what individual greeds will do...Lasting impact are generations just from a simple fact that we did not think and preapre in advance.

It is not just our leaders's responsibilities..It is after all our home collectively. We have these choices to make...It is either to leave the course of history and let it shapes by the few or we become apart of it.

It is not a time to blame or curse the darkness..but it is time to become one nation, one people that will ultimately believe that the fundamental truths of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness are in our hands.

It is when we take ownership of our own destinity is that change will occur.

If we are the sons and daughters and descendants of our glorious ancestors who have built and left us many proud moments and remnants of glorious pasts from Bayon, Taprum, Angkor Wat to Ta Morn, Apsara to Baray; then it is our responsibilty to think and act in this ever changing time.

It will not be anybody else but us, the newest of generations; the need to think and plan ahead are never before so important...because when those bad days and history repeats themselves..It will be too late to act..and nobody else to blame..but ourselves. We have seen those moments before; yet we have failed to take part in them.

Yet this sign of ever changing time, we shall be ready...like never before...equipped with knowledge, emotions, aspiration, the will to exist, discipline, protect and secure, for ourselves and many generations to come.

When all has been done, the generations that will follow us can see that we live lives worth living for. We have made moments on this planet meaningful and secure victorious paths for them to lead on for ever and ever.

Let us join hands in this rebuilding process and become an agent of change for ourselves, our children and many generations to come.

Looking Beyond 2010

As I sit and contemplate on what I have done during the past 10 months of 2010; I could not recollect anything else but only experiences of hardship, broken love, broken dream, broken promises and a sense of self instability.

It is has been a year of turmoil and a year not worth remembering because it only recalls painful memories. Yet, I also realized that this is part of growing up and growing old. Life is a journey and many times decisions that are made may not necessary be the right one all the times. I regret making some bad decisions but it is only fair to say that I did my best in the most difficult circumstances.

I have hurt people along the way; but I also realized that I am only human. The only way I see how these memories of bad time can heal is allow time to pass and find best ways to resolve them one by one. Trying to resolve problems in a rush will not necessary solve them; but may potentially make them worst.

Again, life is a journey..Without it, dull, distasteful and lacks of colors.

I have made a vow that I shall not walk away from the mistakes made without having them resolved. Rather, I will find the most suitable solutions to resolve them. For I am obligated to ensure that whatever happens has to be corrected.

I have gone through countless good memories; yet today my focus is on bad ones because I want to make sure that my future decisions and actions shall not be repeated. I will treat each one of my failures as slave and not my master; yet I shall learn from them.

Lost time realistically cannot be made up; but I want to ensure that my loved ones know that I am always there for them. It is them who may have distant themselves from me. I feel no regret but only to be encouraged that I am allowed the freedom to make choices on my own. Good or bad..They are mine.

As I sit and I contemplate further; I can only see better days ahead of me.

2010 has gone passed and 2011 will ring in another 56 days counting from today, November 5th 2010.

For now, I can only think to those days ahead which include Thanksgiving, Christmas, and of course the New Year's day celebration.

A Khmer-American Perspective - Democracy



Today, is an election day in America, November 2nd. I casted my ballot for the candidates that will represent my view points, ideologies, outlooks and of course my sense of well-being.

It is a choice that we as American make every four and five years. It is a time of reflection and a time of change if we wish to see changes made.

The ideal of an American electoral process is deeply rooted in the principles that each one of us has unalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for ourselves and future generations.

These fundamental beliefs are practiced to the core where each individual American is taught since early childhood the fundamental truths of democracy the tangle notion of any thing is possible in America.

The concept of American Dream is born out out of these fundamental truths; hence, Americans are driven by the dream that equality and opportunities are real if we so choose to believe in them.

Immigrant stories of rag to riches, an African-American success story born to a Jewish mother and a Ghanian Father is able to be voted in to the highest office are real..if we choose to believe that they are indeed real.

These are after all, the stories of America and its great democratic process in practice.

It has been over 200 years where democracy is practiced through trials and errors; yet continues to be refined to become the purest of its form. The world over has tried to adopt the American democracy; yet many have failed and few have succeeded due to the simplest mindset and reasons that American democratic systems can be adopted and followed overnight.

It is nearly impossible to have democracy working properly in 5 to 10 years in place such as Cambodia...because democracy has to take root, prosper with much care.

A true democratic process must be home-grown, tailor-made, amended to fit the cultural, socio-economic situation of that country. Yet the fundamental truths are the same; but must be able to accommodate necessary changes in order to facilitate view points that are different without resorting to violence and oppression of any form on its opponents.

In that, we call "democracy" in its true sense of word.

The Questions of Life?

Nothing is this world is permanent. We live and die...What is left..remnants of our past. We may leave path for others to follow, but for most people life, it is nothing more than a creation to procreate and to pass on the genes so that humans can carry on our gene pool amongst other life forms on this planet called Earth.

The significant of life is in itself what we make of it. When all is done...our very own elements of what make our physical being to who we are as creature amongst many on this planet are mainly oxygen, carbon, hydrogen and other chemical elements. Hence, realistically, we become nothing more than dust, wind, air and water or at least that is what science has proven to us.

Our spirit, for some who choose to believe life after death is nothing more than our imagination of what we imagine ourselves to be. Is there such a thing as life after death?

For many centuries, scholars, religious leaders and saints alike tried to explain and offered reasonings of what life may be like after our death..but none has been conclusive to actually prove that there is life after death. And this is where science and religion is at conflicting views with each others.

If life begins with conception between a man and a woman; and there is no life after death then how do humans pass on our gene pool to procreate for generations past and prosperity?

These are difficult questions in which I find it hard to comprehend as I try to find answers to life's very own questions of procreation, life, love, death,and after death.

In my search to understanding the questions of life; I find that the meaning of life rests in each one of us and how we want to live our lives.

Due to its complexities, life is nothing more than live, love, procreate coupled with these emotions of happiness, sadness, giving and caring for one another. Most importantly, live life one day at a time.

Life's journey is never ending. It is our responsibility to live it to the fullest so that we may value it more and more.
